India at global debating contest

An Indian team including Eashwar Nagaraj (PSBB, K.K. Nagar), Keerthanya Rajesh (PSBB, K.K. Nagar), Raghav Anand (PSBB, Nungambakkam), Sashank Kumar (PSBB, K.K. Nagar) and Surya Kumaravel (APL Global) are competing in the World Schools Debating Championships (WSDC), being hosted at Assumption University, Bangkok.

The international competition, held every year in a different location, has been the world’s leading school-level debating tournament for the past 25 years. The tournament, on from August 5 to August 15, will culminate in a grand final on August 14 at the United Nations Conference Centre.

Ramco Systems has been sponsoring Team India for the past six years. Amrithavarshini Venkatesh (WSDC 2008 and 2011) and Padma Priya Govindarajan (WSDC 2011), both former members of Team India are the coaches of this year’s team. Padma Priya will also represent India as an adjudicator.

It’s a matter of great pride and delight that our students would be participating for the seventh consecutive time in such a prestigious event.
